A piece of work is protected, irrespective of the quality or purpose, as of the time it has been created, without the need of any formality or application as long as it is original and fixed. A piece of work is protected if the author of the work is a national or a resident of Ethiopia. In addition, works published abroad are protected if published in Ethiopia within 30 days irrespective of the nationality of their authors.
